All Football, All Day!

Ciao everyone!
This past weekend was a blast! Jordan's game was in Regio-Emilia against the Hogs on Saturday and my flag football tournament was in Ferrara on Sunday! Because our games were back to back, the whole flag football team traveled with the boys football team to Regio-Emilia for the game! I sat with the girls during the game and tried to learn some Italian . . . needless to say, we had a great time! They're all so sweet and welcoming and I love hanging out with them! Here's most of our team in the stands!

The boys game was a nail biter! Lots of penalties against our team . . . a lot of them called on Jordan! How dare those refs! Jordan had a touchdown called back for pass interference and an incomplete pass to him was ruled a fumble! Those refs definitely needed some glasses out there! At the end of the game, the score was tied 21-21 so we went into overtime! Jordan got to be the Captain for overtime and the Elephants started out with the ball! Eric threw a pass to Jordan in the end zone for a touchdown and then Jordan kicked the extra point! Whoo hoo! 28-21! Next it was the hogs turn to try for a touchdown! On 4th down, the Hogs were a few feet away from scoring when Jordan made a big tackle and stopped them from scoring. Game over! Elephants winnnnn!!!!!

After the boy's game, the flag football team (and it's wonderful supporters and coaches) piled into rental cars and began the drive to Ferrara! Our hotel was quite lovely! Satellite tv, motion sensor lights, and an awesome shower! The other boys that were on the trip with us decided to drive to Bologna to see another IFL game that was being played that night, but Jordan was so exhausted that he decided to stay and hang out with the girls! We all hopped in our cars and headed to the mall area to eat dinner! The car ride was SO MUCH FUN! Three of my teammates were in the car with us and we were trying to do English and Italian lessons the entire drive. They are so very funny! When we got to the mall, we headed for Old Wild West! Delicious french fries, hamburgers, salads, chicken, and steaks! Jordan was a big hit with the girls and we had a great time!

The tournament on Sunday was a very new experience for me, but it was a lot of fun! We played 4 games total, winning our first game and losing the last three. We played one team twice, so technically we only played 3 teams. In our defense, the two teams that beat us had players from the national flag football team on them . . . totally not fair! We definitely had the biggest team and the most legit uniforms! Go Pink Elephants!
Our first game was pretty uneventful . . . until the very end of the game. The score was 0-0 the entire game and with 30 seconds left in the game, our qb threw an interception to the other team and they scored! They also scored their extra point after! Bummer! I had played receiver the entire game up until this point. The coach, Pepe, decided to put me in as qb so that I could try and throw a long pass for a touchdown. I threw my first pass and it was caught! Hooray! The next pass I threw was for a touchdown! Whoo hoo!!! We still have a chance! The coach asked me if I wanted to go for 1 extra point or go for 2 extra points for the win . . . I said 'let's go for the win!' haha. We went for two points and we got it! We won the game with 3 seconds left! What a wonderful feeling! After that, we struggled quite a bit, but we still had a great time playing! We ended up getting 4th place in the tourney out of 6 teams and we all got cute t-shirts for participating! What a great day! I'm so happy that I got to be a part of the Pink Elephants this year! An experience that I will never forget!

Ciao for now!
